About The Conference

The National Center for the Study of Civil Rights and African American Culture at Alabama State University and its partners present a conference commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. Alabama served as the epicenter in the 1965 campaign to secure the right to vote for disfranchised African Americans. Please join us at a conference which will feature scholars who have studied and participants who were involved in an event which reshaped the American political process.
