~Materials in the collection do not circulate.
(Note: The Alabama State University Library will consider requests from researchers, publishers, etc. for loan of specific titles, items, etc. for review, reprinting or for micro-reproduction. Also, at intervals the collections maybe closed for inventory, preservation, conservation, or in off-site storage. If the request is approved by the Archivist in consultation with the Director of University Library items will be loaned in a spirit of sharing the library’s rich resources with other libraries and scholars, but under conditions that will safeguard the library’s collections, protect library users and recover all costs incurred).
~Researchers are required to have a photo ID along with their social security number, when registering to use the collection.
~Registration forms must be completed at the Information Desk.
~Researchers are encouraged to contact the Library, prior to visiting, to notify the staff of research interest in order to expedite service.
~Lockers are provided for items (briefcases, backpacks, purses, books, etc.) Not needed in the reading room.
~The use of laptop computers, scanners, or cameras must be approved by on duty staff.
~Pencils only, no pens.
~No food or drinks are permitted.
~Requests for permission to publish materials from the collection in any format are submitted to the Library Director for approval.
~Researchers must identify and acknowledge use of the Collections’ materials in their document, publication or reproduction project.
~As a courtesy, researchers are asked to extend a fit copy of any publication resulting from the use of the collection.
